In my youth, this was one of the most important names. Or to be more specific his last name. As a kid I was a collector of scaled cars but yeah well, weren’t we all? And I liked the Porsche 356 best. I knew that when I was going to be a grown up man I would absolutely get myself a fast car. But here I am still cycling around not even having a driving license. Perhaps I should get one of those in the years to come  and go on a holiday to Germany.

Tomkov was born on July 24, 1972!! The Russian rider stood on the podium in the Grand Tour events four times including one victory. Tomkov won the 1996 Giro d’Italia in front of Enrico Zaina of Italy and Abraham Olano of Spain. Tomkov was 2nd in the 1997 Giro d’Italia behind Ivan Gotti of Italy. Tomkov was also 2nd in the 1998 Giro d’Italia behind Marco Pantani of Italy. In addition, Tomkov was 3rd in 2000 Vuelta a Espana behind Roberto Heras of Spain and Angel Casero of Spain.

And I’m still counting, yesterday was my birthday and only few peeps actually came by to enjoy Kim’s surprise gift, the homemade cookies and cold lemonade. Stuck with all the left-overs, I have to eat the same meal twice in a row. But no worries, we had friet, fricandel, appelmoes en cola. Kampioenenvoer. It’s my first day living life being a 38 year old.
