No polo today due to extreme cold that made our ball kaputt.

“Beatman Voorns” dropped in today for the weekly afterbikepolodinner at “Diverse Mik”. Other poloistas on the premises were: “Sabberde Rum”, “Barkeeper Tik”, “Lecithine Melk”, “Woordgeintje Ruk” and “Vijand Sjok”. But where were Stoffel en malle Tjeerd eigenlijk? Probably busy at their own homes making up anagrams.

At the NDSM-werf yesterday. The Fuccitos from Arnhem went with a 6 man strong delegation to the Amsterdam New Year Throw-in Tourney 2010 to visit our friends and organisers Pierski and Takahiro. As you’ll understand, all teams were a mix of both awful and excellent poloistas which gave the day a more mellow touch and less competitivity. Great going there! And yes, there is footage too.

Pont naar de NDSM-werf

Vanaf de aanmeersteiger achter het Centraal Station Amsterdam, vertrekt elk half uur (en tijdens spitsuren, ieder kwartier) een pont naar de Van Riemsdijkweg in Noord. Vandaar is het 4 minuten lopen naar de NDSM-werf/Skatepark Amsterdam. De pont, die alleen toegankelijk is voor (brom)fietsers en voetgangers, is gratis. Vertrektijd vanaf CS is kwart voor en kwart over het uur. Vertrektijd vanaf NDSM terrein is half na het uur en heel uur.

Bus 35 vanaf CS, uitstappen Atatürk
Bus 94 vanaf CS, uitstappen Klaprozenweg
Bus 38 vanaf de pont (noordzijde recht tegenover CS), uitstappen Klaprozenweg

Ring A10, Coentunnel, daarna meteen afslag S118 richting Tuindorp Oostzaan (volg Noord 1), Cornelis Douwesweg, die overgaat in de Klaprozenweg. Na de afslag Noord 1 de eerste afslag rechts (Van Riemsdijkweg), kruising over en dan linksaf (tt Neveritaweg)

Auto route IJ-tunnel

Door de IJ-tunnel, eerste afrit, linksaf (Van Hasseltweg), volg Noord 1, rechtsaf (Kamperfoelieweg), bij tweede stoplicht linksaf (Klaprozenweg), enz. Na de brug over het Zijkanaal linksaf (Van Riemsdijkweg), kruising over en dan linksaf (tt Neveritaweg)

So what did happen actually in Grunn? Well, Meneer Eddie ended 4th in the alleycat on friday and won the kattebak klassement but that was more a formality. Dirk-jan Haagsma and Ria Slegers became Dutch Champions in the main race and Enrico Liebe and Ria (again) won the sprints. Team Polotov beat T.G.F.E., EHVFXD Polo Squad and Team Mix in the final four of the bikepolo tournament. And…mmmmm, ohja, a lot of pictures were taken including this one from Jelle.

The wood has been brought by the infamous Kobus.

The ODCMC crew up north in Groningen is working really hard to make this a very kewl Open Dutch Champies for all of you. With bits of brutal bikepolo, some serious racing and speedy sprinting for events, this should be an interesting weekend. Did I already mention the BBQ, the party and the final alleycat of this season’s katebakklassement. Man, we is gonna be so busy doin’ cycling, we might not find the time to have a beer and a laugh.

It’s a day for renewed chances. Let’s see, what’s there to do this week? My woman and son are off to her mom. We’ve got bikepolo on wednesday, we have de hel van het noorden alleycat on friday and there’s the ODCMC on saturday. Oh yeah, let’s not forget that we’re still on monday, to celebrate Meneer Eddie’s effort from last saturday when he became Utrechts best foreigner in the uphill. He placed 4th overall which gives him a bijna niet te missen kans to become kattebakkampioen 2008/2009.
