Things are going well. Not personally, I mean. But organising the Arnhem Uphill Alleycat is getting along just fine. Start of the race will be at 14:00. I still need two extra person for checkpoints but I know some will come forward, no sweat (and big thanx in advance). But next thing has come up for later that day. In the evening, 20:00 sharp, I’ll be auctioning (more picas on twitter @hautecourier) a shitload of parafenalia, cyclingcaps, fietskoeriershirts and bikemessengerbags for Artsen zonder Grenzen. All collected money will be for sponsoring the Cycloon team on Tour for Life. Kom and spend yor doekoe!!!

Arnhem will be Greenhem for a year because we’re living, cycling and messengering in the winner of the Entente Florale 2009 competition. I hereby proudly present my hometown as the only GOLD medalist. I always knew that Arnhem was the best city to be a fietskoerier in and now it’s also be prooven to be the most beautiful and groenste stad van Europa.

Being a fietskoerier in Arnhem is often said to be a Gods gift. I agree. When you’re really really lucky you might have to make a delivery to Rozendaal. Then you lie a little bit to your dispatcher by telling him you can’t find the address. You make a quick detour on the Veluwe to de Posbank and visit one of the most beautiful climbs in Holland. Right around the corner.

The 30th of january it’s time for the first Fragile Cargo Alleycat in Arnhem. During the race you will have to make sure that you don’t break you cargo because that will result in time peanlty’s. The fragile payload will be the size of about a beer can but it’s very, very fragile so take precautions! The race opens at 20.00 and the start will be at 21.00. The race will end at Club Orewoet in Arnhem and there the fun continues in the for of the ”grote Vinnie, Donnie en Sjakie show“. At 0.00 the results will be made public and prices will be there for the boys and girls who made their way through Arnhem the fastest without breaking their payload. This spectacle will set you back 5 euro but for that you will get acces to the party as well and everyone gets his own personal trophy! For questions mail naar Mr Monkeyboy himself.

Tsja, Le mal de tête, zul je bedoelen. This guy is giving me  a headache with his imbecile ideas. Cause if last years danger on ice wasn’t enough, it needs a rerun. Now, the weatherforecast isn’t telling us we’re going to freeze our nuts off, but apparently things need to be done right now. So get your guts out of the closet, prepare your tires for slippery conditions and act like a spikey stud. Our good friend Tjeerd is organising insanity to the max in Arnhem, next weekend. This weekend I was asked to inform all my friends, and the rest of the people I know, about my personal preferences. Now I don’t wanna bother you with my issues on politics, sex or music but this time it was asked by “Marsel the Parsel”, a bikemessenger from way back when. Not just some exenger, but perhaps the only guy back in the days at Velocity in Arnhem who made some sense. At least… sometimes. Now he asked me to put up a flyer for: een fakkeltocht tegen racisme en uitsluiting. Alright then. One exception made.

So if you didn’t get it by now, we’re about art and kunstzinnigheid in the capital of Gelderland. I can’t recall seeing any thing cool, made in Arnhem, that once left an everlasting neverending impression on me. But, I could be wrong. Although… they invited the Rotterdam Night Mayor pour aider un peux cachet au festivitees and you have to go out of town for a bikeride. Catch my drift?

Jos is having his birthday today, celebrations and congrats. Don’t know how old he is now but luckily for my son he still behaves like a kid. Maybe he just acts like that to get the attention away from  the clothes he wears. Anyway, tonite we have BBQ with a couple of friends. Jos and Sam did all the food preps so it’s gonna be all cool.

Thus visited in Arnhem, last weekend the wife, the kid and I went to the opening of Subwalk’s newest expo. Folding paper into toys. Que? You read what it said. Paper toys are the fastest growing movement within the designer toy world. Their free availability online offers a unique platform for designers and enthusiasts.
