Willem Jan Rijper was the number 3 in last month’s alleycat in Arnhem. Although his website looks a bit “grauw“, his video is more “donkergrauw”. Thanx for putting out the good vibes and nice images of our hometown. For all those that missed out on yet another race/party/gettogether with some great people chez Haute HQ.

You always wanted to know why these fakengers are not allowed to enter in alleycat competitions? What it is that gives a fakenger a bad name amongst the working fietskoeriers? Why they have been given the name “fakenger”? Beacause them cheaters is not for real! That’s why. Thanx to my homie Ric @ Frisco store.

Okeeeeeej, forget about singelrace, piraten-alleycat or uphill. Yesterday we came up with something revolutionary new for the Dutch. We had a small party with some friends (47 registrants), a couple of beers (+ 140 cans of 0,5 ltr), 3 six-packs of chocolade melk and a checkpoint with painted fingernails. And.. ohja… we had a triple race evening/night, starting with a micro-alleycat that the winner rounded in 7 minutes and the the worst loser took 16 minutes to complete. We continued with a tag team alleycat in which you and your partner had to solve 6 questions and get a sample of proof at Simone’s place (thanx girl). After midnight the best 10 competitors were through to the finale (13 rounds of hardcore bicycleracing around the lauwersgracht) and Jeroen Blom prooved to be the most cunning cat of  ’m all. Finishing as numero 44 in the first race but still winning it overal in the last. Congratulations! What happened further? People showed up from Eindhoven, Zwolle, Guatemala, South Africa, Rotterdam, Utrecht, Finland, Poland, Iraq, Heerlen, Maastricht, Kenya, Groningen, Germany, Enschede, America, Amsterdam and Arnhem, I think. So AA-T was right by saying you might call this the ODAC (BTW, big shout out to the FUCCIT guys for chipping in on both fun and beers, you rock, nuttin fake or pose about that). Only two minor details: Leander’s crash and he didn’t ask for a bandaid (rules rule but hope your alright) and the fact that Tijmon would have been in the final if he didn’t bring his buddy to the hospital. Some people controlled the music, some refilled the fridge, some were on the checkpoints (Joop en Tom, bedankt he) and one hero/exenger/nowadays fakenger was the most coolest by drinking coffee, juice and chocolatmilk. Surely my girlfriend is always the best! All of y’all made the 13 years worthy, I can only be humble from here on. Gracias, Thanks, Danke, Bedankt, Kiitos, Dzieki.

Aww man, organising an alleycat is one thing. But making up rules and manifests for three races is another. And how to deal with cheaters and tag team partners. What to think of putting people on checkpoints. How about prizes and stuff. And work goes on. Is there still time?

The part where the boys are seperated from the men, messengers become posengers and where the alleycats walk the dog. Superstition holds that thirteen is a day of good or bad luck. But since I can’t stand dealing with the factor of coincidence in a match, we’ll be starting the Grand Finale after midnight. Best 10 competitors will ride the decisive battle in this third race.

Always together? Neeeeeeej, just for this second alleycat you’ll be teaming up with the lucky person next to you. Is it possible to choose a partner? Can he/she do the first assignments and can I do the rest? Is a courier mixed with a posenger? Questions but no answers? Just ride hard in the first place!

Alleycat Number 1: the microalleycat starts @ 20:30 @ singelstraat 81 and finishing results will be the starting order for Alleycat Number 2!
In the past, some winners have completed the race in less than 8 minutes.

All work and no play? Not with the chief of this company. Next week it’ll be 13 years ago I started cycling as a koerier. So it’s about time to stir things up a bit on this side of the globe: there’ll be a triple alleycat in Arnhem. Spread the news, there’s more to come!
